Yemen Bani Ofair Whole Bean Coffee

From the remote village of Bani Ofair in Yemen’s Ans region, this coffee is grown by a tight-knit community of around 50 farming families, living high in the rugged mountains of Dhamar. With limited infrastructure and a challenging landscape, the community has turned necessity into craft, shaping coffees of real distinction through persistence, collaboration, and generations of knowledge passed down across the terraces.

Coffee here is more than a livelihood; it’s a cultural centrepiece. Families begin the day with a shared cup, and during harvest, neighbours gather to taste and evaluate one another’s lots, a tradition that strengthens community ties while reinforcing a shared standard for quality. This lot features the rare Yemenia variety, a genetic lineage found only in Yemen, and the beans are naturally dried in the sun on raised beds, a slow, traditional method that helps preserve sweetness and clarity. The result is a smooth, comforting cup with the bright zest of grapefruit and lemon peel, layered over milk chocolate and brown sugar, finishing with a classic note of black tea.

Over the last eight years, Qima has worked closely with farmers here, supporting quality at farm level, strengthening post-harvest practice, and helping communities like Bani Ofair unlock the full potential of their coffees.
